I am well-educated, highly intelligent, generally optimistic, honest, steady, unassuming, and considerate, with an excellent sense of humor. I have no problem laughing at myself and never fail to find humor in the world around me. I enjoy a good joke, but am not much of a joke-teller. (Though be warned. I know a LOT of viola jokes.)

I am tolerant, caring, and I listen well. I am inherently curious and generally interested in trying/learning new things. I tend to be casual, both in demeanor and dress, but can dress up when the occasion calls for it.

Classical music is one of my passions and I expect it will always be a large part of my life. If you do not enjoy classical music, we're probably not a good match. While my primary interest is classical, I also like rock/pop and Eastern European folk dance music. In fact, there's very little music I actively dislike. (Though I can do without rap.)

I am not a gardener, but I love plants, gardens, and wildlife of all kinds. I love the outdoors, I am a lousy cook, but appreciate good food, especially with good wine. I also enjoy "simple" pleasures.

I'm looking for someone who is open and honest, intelligent, caring and considerate, tolerant, and supportive (emotionally, not financially). Someone who has their own life but believes together we can be more than the sum of our parts. Someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation across a wide range of topics while still retaining the capacity for an occasional bout of silliness.

If this is you, it'd be nice if you liked to cook because, as I've said, I'm a lousy cook but I like to share meals at home. [I can help, though. And, of course, you'll need a good sense of humor.

I'll rarely respond to winks. I do understand their appeal, but as might be obvious from my profile, I'm into words. If you don't have them, we're probably not a match.

If you are interested in starting a conversation, please have the time for it. If you do not have the time to manage a timely conversation, you probably don't have the time for a relationship, and, again, we've probably got a disconnect.

I admit to being less than proactive on this site. The number of folks for whom it is critical to share their strenuous pursuits with their partner gets depressing.
